This adjustment aims to give employees more time to spend with their families. During Monday’s morning flag-raising ceremony, September 23, Human Resource Management and Development Office (HRMDO) head Atty. Rene Valencia announced that the office hours will only run until 12 noon on Friday. This early dismissal is in line with Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr.’s directive to support the annual celebration of Family Week among provincial government employees. Similarly, Iloilo City’s Mayor Jerry Treñas issued an advisory for the early dismissal of city government employees on Monday, September 23. City personnel were allowed to log out at 3 p.m. to join the Family Week celebration and spend quality time with their loved ones. However, departments and offices providing essential services, including health, disaster preparedness, and response, are required to maintain operations to ensure continuity of critical services. This announcement followed the directives from Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin under Memorandum Circular No. 64, dated September 12, in accordance with Proclamation No. 60 (1992) and Proclamation No. 326 (2012). These proclamations declare the last week of September as Family Week and designate the fourth Monday of September as “Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga” Day, during which government work in the executive branch is suspended starting at 3 p.m. The National Committee on the Filipino Family encourages active participation from government workers in the various programs and activities scheduled for Family Week.
