As part of its mission to promote Philippine history and cultural heritage, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, through its museum the NHCP Museum of Philippine Maritime History will continue its lecture series titled "LAYAG: Lakbay sa Agos at Yapak ng Ating Gunita." This lecture series will explore various topics on the nation's rich maritime history and culture.&#13;

Dr. Wilfredo Ramos will take the helm of the first lecture with his presentation titled "The Story Behind the John B. Lacson University (Formerly the Iloilo Maritime Academy)," which will revolve around Capt. John B. Lacson and his institution's legacy in shaping the seafaring culture of Iloilo City. This lecture is in line with the celebration of History Month 2024 and the 87th Charter Day of Iloilo City.&#13;

The lecture was held at the NHCP Museum of Philippine Maritime History (Ground Floor of the Iloilo Customs Building) on August 19 (Monday) from 8AM to 11AM. This event was free and open to the public. This event is made possible with the help of John B Lacson Foundation Maritime University and Iloilo City Government.</text>
