The essays included in this book were selected from the works of the author that were written over a period of some forty years. The common thread that ties the essays together is their being about historical events, personages and cultural and social developments in the "Bisaya region" that covers the southern half of the Philippines and the northern part of Borneo.
This book is about an “unsung hero” of the Philippine Revolution — General Adriano Hernandez of Iloilo. Although half-Spanish and half-“Indio” by blood, he was a full-blooded Filipino patriot at heart.
