<text>Iloilo sets sights on food and nutrition security
By Ime Sornito -Monday, July 7, 2025

ILOILO – The provincial government is launching an intensified campaign for food and nutrition security as it kicks off the 2025 Nutrition Month celebration this Monday, July 7, with a renewed focus on reducing malnutrition among children and promoting healthy lifestyle practices among Ilonggos.

Anchored on the theme “Sa PPAN: Sama-Sama sa Nutrisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat!” and the subtheme “Food at Nutrition Security, Maging Priority! Sapat na Pagkain, Karapatan Natin!”, the provincial celebration will commence with a Zumba session and a “Healthy Salad Sale” at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol Lobby following the flag-raising ceremony.

Led by the Iloilo Provincial Health Office (IPHO) and the Provincial Nutrition Committee, the event will also feature the ceremonial oath-taking of the new officers of the Provincial Nutrition Volunteers of Iloilo, Inc. (2025–2026), as well as messages from key officials including IPHO head Dr. Maria Socorro Colmenares-Quiñon, National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region 6 OIC Sheryl Sedantes, Vice Gov. Nathalie Ann Debuque, Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr., and keynote speaker Hector Mallo of the Office of the Provincial Agriculture.

To complement the advocacy for nutritious diets, a ceremonial opening of the KADIWA Pop-Up Stores will also be held at the Capitol Grounds Walkway, offering fresh produce and local food items to promote healthy consumption.

The province’s efforts appear to be paying off. According to IPHO data, Iloilo’s nutritional status has significantly improved over the last three years:

* Underweight prevalence dropped from 2.98% in 2021 to 2.44% in 2023

* Wasting decreased from 1.58% to 1.11%

* Stunting fell from 7.46% to 4.84%

* Overweight cases declined from 3.15% to 2.26%

“These consistent reductions in malnutrition indicators are a result of our province-wide, integrated strategies,” said Provincial Health Officer I, Dr. Wendel Tupas-Marcelo.

Marcelo highlighted the implementation of the “ART RESPONSE” framework as central to the gains in nutrition. The acronym stands for:

* A – Adequate Food Production

* R – Rehabilitation of Malnutrition

* T – Training and Capacity Building of Nutrition Workers

* R – Reactivated Nutrition Committees

* E – Education for Nutritional and Behavioral Change

* S – Social Marketing for Nutrition Support

* P – People Empowerment

* O – Outstanding Program Implementation

* N – Networking and Linkages

* S – Scaling Up Nutrition

* E – Emergency Response

With coordinated efforts among local government units, national agencies, NGOs, private sectors, and community volunteers, Iloilo continues to move closer to achieving its goal of ensuring every Ilonggo has access to nutritious food and lives a healthy life./PN

ILOILO – A total of 102 Ilonggo youth from various towns in Iloilo Province have completed a 10-day Soft/Core Skills Training (SCST) under the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) JobStart Philippines Program – a step toward addressing youth unemployment and supporting the province’s vision of a robust middle class.

The SCST graduates were honored in a recognition program held on July 2 at the Grand Dame Hotel in La Paz district, Iloilo City. The training forms the first phase of JobStart Wave 2025, aimed at improving the employability of at-risk youth through life skills development, job readiness activities, and career coaching.

Implemented in partnership with the Office of the Provincial Public Employment Service Manager (OPPESM), local government units, and the private sector, the program is aligned with Iloilo’s development blueprint, MoRProGRes, which seeks to create a globally competitive and resilient province driven by a strong and financially capable middle class.

Provincial Administrator Raul Banias credited OPPESM, led by Dr. Cynthia Dario, for the successful implementation of the JobStart program in Iloilo.

“This is about preparing young Ilonggos for the demands of the job market and giving them a better shot at long-term success,” he said.

Fourth District Board Member Rolando Distura highlighted the importance of empowering youth with the skills needed to thrive across various sectors, “We are committed to providing relevant training that allows them to compete in today’s fast-evolving labor landscape,” he noted.

DOLE Iloilo Field Office Director Joselito De la Banda emphasized that the JobStart program does more than just connect young people to jobs.

“It instills soft skills like communication, teamwork, and discipline—qualities that are crucial for career growth and industry relevance,” he said.

JobStart Philippines, institutionalized through Republic Act No. 10869, offers structured pathways for unemployed youth through partnerships with employers. It aims to bridge gaps in job readiness and ease the transition from school to work.

Dr. Dario echoed the urgency of the initiative, pointing out that nearly half of the country’s unemployed are youth — many of them recent graduates.

“You are fortunate to have undergone this training that has better prepared you for the workforce,” she told the graduates, commending their dedication.

The program is expected to play a vital role in tackling youth unemployment in Iloilo and building a more skilled and competitive generation of workers — paving the way for greater economic resilience across the province./PN

The three-night event featured over 100 food stalls, marking the city’s first large-scale night market and setting the stage for plans to open a daily night market along JM Basa Street. MA. THERESA LADIAO/PN

ILOILO City – A daily night market along JM Basa Street is set to become the centerpiece of Mayor Raisa Treñas’ revitalization push for the City Proper’s old business district, as the city eyes inclusive economic growth that prioritizes both big investors and small entrepreneurs.

Mayor Treñas unveiled the plan during her keynote address at the Western Visayas Business Conference and Exhibit (WVBIZCONEX) 2025 on July 2, emphasizing that the move will not only breathe new life into the historic downtown area but also provide fresh livelihood opportunities for small vendors.

“This is part of my vision to bring life back to the City Proper and ensure that our small players are not left behind as we welcome major investors,” said Treñas, speaking before a crowd of business leaders and development planners.

The daily night market will feature designated business carts, seating, and vending spaces for micro-entrepreneurs along JM Basa Street. It will coincide with the anticipated reopening of the Central and Terminal public markets, which are currently undergoing redevelopment.

Alongside this initiative, Treñas also highlighted her administration’s support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through free capacity-building programs under the Uswag Negosyo Academy.

The program, launched in 2023 in partnership with the BDO Foundation, offers training in basic accounting, financial literacy, marketing, food safety, and proper housekeeping — key tools to help MSMEs become more competitive and sustainable.

“Training under the academy is open to all MSMEs because we want to equip them with the skills and tools they need to thrive in our growing economy,” Treñas said.

Nearly 600 market vendors have completed the program so far, each receiving P5,000 in capital assistance upon graduation to help strengthen or expand their businesses./PN

Vice Gov. Nathalie Ann “Lee Ann” Debuque flashes a confident smile as she presides over the inaugural session of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Iloilo, marking her first official act as the province’s second-highest official. NELJOY GALIGAO/PN

ILOILO – In her first official act as presiding officer of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP), Vice Gov. Nathalie Ann “Lee Ann” Debuque called on Provincial Board members to set aside politics, embrace diversity, and adopt critical thinking to craft policies that reflect the real needs of the people.

Addressing the SP during its inaugural session at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol, Debuque underscored the importance of listening, reasoning, and respectful debate to improve legislation and governance.

“Many were curious as to how I will manage as presiding officer. One of the key things instilled in me is critical thinking. To listen, to question, to reason, and thus I encourage everyone to have debates, to tackle and have different opinions — not for the sake of disagreement, but to sharpen our ideas and arrive at a better outcome for our people,” she said,

Debuque, a former mayor of Anilao, also emphasized the importance of collective effort and humility in governance: “What I have learned as a Mayor of Anilao for the last nine years is that you cannot govern alone. I will enjoy the pleasure and the challenge of presiding over the 15th Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Iloilo.”

She also acknowledged the shared vision among board members and expressed optimism for their legislative term: “I am excited to put my heels on rest and work with you. I would also like to be with my fellow Board Members in their shared vision for the Province of Iloilo.”

New board members likewise used the session to affirm their commitment to public service. First District Board Member Rica Jane Garin, in her maiden speech, said she was overwhelmed by the support she received and vowed to give back through dedicated service.

“Amo ja ang una nga beses nga pag-intra ko sa serbisyo publiko kag nabatyagan ko gid nga sobra-sobra ang anda nga pagpalangga kanakon… Wala man ni sa ambition ko nga mangin board member… but nevertheless I take pride sa pagsalig ka akon pamuluyo,” said Garin.

Third District Board Member Mark Palabrica recalled his early exposure to public service as a youth leader during Boys and Girls Week: “I never imagined that after 32 years of being a Boy Provincial Board Member… I am now elected as a regular member of the SP… As a newly-elected SP member, I will try my best to accomplish my mandate of being the voice of the people.”

Fourth District Board Member Dominique Paul Oso echoed his colleagues’ sentiments, saying: “Tinguhaan ko nga ang ila pagpalangga baylohan ko sang akon kapisan, nga mag serbisyo sang tampad kag sa bilog man nga probinsya.”

Board Member Nielito C. Tupas of the 5th District also spoke of a renewed sense of purpose in his return to the board: “Nagbalik ako kay may mga kulang… ang third run is to God, to myself, and to the 5th District, that in mind tinguhaon ko gid nga makahimo kag makabulig.”

Fellow 5th District Board Member Rolex Suplico offered a reflective take on their legislative role: “What we do in life echoes in eternity… We are legislating lives, not just paperwork. At the end of the day, we are here to realize the dreams not just of this generation, but for generations to come.”/PN

              <text>Dengue clusters surge in Iloilo; 39 brgys in 20 towns affected
By Ime Sornito -Thursday, July 3, 2025

ILOILO — The number of barangays with confirmed clustering of dengue cases in Iloilo Province surged by 70 percent in just one week, raising alarms over the fast-spreading mosquito-borne disease.

From 23 barangays in 14 municipalities last week, the latest data from the Iloilo Provincial Health Office (IPHO) as of June 28 (26th morbidity week) show that 39 barangays in 20 towns have now recorded dengue clusters — defined as having at least three cases in a barangay over a four-week period.

“This is a significant increase,” aid IPHO chief Dr. Maria Socorro Colmenares-Quiñon.

The towns with confirmed clustering include:

* Ajuy – Poblacion (four)

* Alimodian – Poblacion (three)

* Barotac Nuevo – Lagubang (three), Monpon (three), and Salihid (three)

* Barotac Viejo – Vista Alegre (five)

* Bingawan – Poblacion (four)

* Cabatuan – Tabucan (three) and Tiring (three)

* Calinog – Libot (four)

* Carles – Cabilao Pequeño (four)

* Concepcion – Poblacion (three)

* Dumangas – Bolilao (four), Paloc Sool (five), Bacong (three), Ilaya 2rd (five), and Cayos (four)

* Janiuay – Jibolo (four)

* Lambunao – Poblacion Ilawod (three)

* Leganes – Poblacion (three) and Napnud (three)

* Lemery – Poblacion SE Zone (three)

* Leon – Biri Sur (five), Poblacion (five), and Talacuan (four)

* Oton – Buray (three), Santa Rita (three), Batuan Ilaud (10), and Caboloan Sur (three)

* Pavia – Balabag (three), Jibao-an (three), Pagsanga-an (three), Tigum (three), and Ungka II (three)

* Pototan – Barasan (three), Igang (four), and Guibuangan (three)

* Santa Barbara – Zone VI (three)

* Sara – Devera (three)

Dr. Quiñon renewed her appeal to residents not to tire of practicing preventive measures, including the “4S” strategy (Search and destroy mosquito breeding sites, Secure self-protection, Seek early consultation, Support fogging in hot spots) and the “4Ts” (Taob or turn containers upside down, Taktak or empty water-holding vessels, Tuyo or dry water-collecting surfaces, and Takip or cover water storage units).

Each household is urged to conduct weekly search-and-destroy operations to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds.

“Please, let us not get tired of doing the 4S and checking for mosquito habitats not just outside but also inside our homes,” she stressed.

Those experiencing fever and other dengue symptoms such as palanuka (vomiting), bleeding, and on-and-off fever are advised to immediately seek medical help. Severe dengue can be fatal if left unmanaged.

Dengue is caused by a virus transmitted by the bite of an infected Aedes aegypti mosquito. Its symptoms include sudden high fever, severe headaches, joint and muscle pain, skin rashes, and bleeding. There is no specific treatment, and early medical intervention is critical.

As of June 28, Iloilo Province has recorded 2,511 dengue cases with 10 deaths, a 58 percent increase from the 1,586 cases and five deaths recorded during the same period last year.

Topping the list of municipalities with the most cases are:

* San Joaquin (172)

* Oton (160 with one death)

* Dumangas (132)

* Leon (127)

* Cabatuan (114)

* Pototan (107 with two deaths)

* Lambunao (99 with one death)

* Janiuay (90)

* Calinog (83)

* Pavia (79)

The disease has now reached all 42 towns and the component city of Passi.

Other areas with dengue cases are: Ajuy (78), San Dionisio (76), Barotac Nuevo (75), Sara (74 cases with one death), Passi City (60), Maasin (58), Barotac Viejo (56), Concepcion (55), Tigbauan (54 cases with one death), Carles (52 cases with two deaths), Santa Barbara (52), Banate (49), Estancia (44), San Miguel (44), Alimodian (40), San Rafael (38), Miag-ao (37), Guimbal (32), Batad (31), Mina (31), Badiangan (30), Dingle (30), Balasan (29 cases with one death), Leganes (28), Anilao (27), Dueñas (27 cases with one death), Lemery (26), Zarraga (26), Bingawan (23), Igbaras (20), San Enrique (19), Tubungan (19), and New Lucena (10)./PN

              <text>Iloilo nears global target in rabies control with over 213,000 dogs vaccinated
By Neljoy N. Galigao -Wednesday, May 7, 2025

ILOILO – This province is closing in on the global rabies prevention standard of 70% dog vaccination coverage after successfully immunizing over 213,000 dogs from February to April 2025, the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (PVO) reported.

This figure represents 58% of the estimated 367,907 dog population in the province, a significant stride toward eliminating rabies through mass immunization.

The campaign, which spanned three months, was participated in by 43 local government units (LGUs) and forms part of the provincial government’s intensified health and zoonotic disease prevention program.

Several municipalities exceeded the global benchmark, with Banate, Cabatuan, and Miag-ao recording a 96% vaccination rate. Other top-performing towns included Barotac Viejo (94%), Batad (93%); Leganes, Anilao, Oton (92%); Dingle (91%); New Lucena (89%); Carles (88%); Lemery (85%); Tigbauan (80%); Maasin (79%); San Miguel (77%); Tubungan (74%); Igbaras (73%); San Joaquin (72%); and Concepcion (70%).

The campaign, spearheaded by local paraveterinary teams and volunteers, employed house-to-house vaccinations and public awareness drives to combat rabies – a deadly viral disease transmitted primarily through bites or scratches from infected animals.

According to the PVO, the program not only seeks to prevent rabies but also promotes responsible pet ownership and community health. Follow-up vaccinations and educational efforts are ongoing to sustain the momentum and achieve full province-wide coverage.

Officials reiterated the importance of the initiative, stressing that dog vaccination remains the most effective way to break the transmission cycle and safeguard both human and animal lives./PN

ILOILO – The provincial government is ramping up efforts to position Pan de Azucar Island in Concepcion town as a leading eco-tourism destination, with a focus on sustainable development and environmental preservation.

Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. recently met with officials and stakeholders from the Save Pan de Azucar group to discuss the island’s transformation into a model eco-tourism site that will conserve its unique ecosystems while fostering local tourism.

Pan de Azucar, famous for its towering Mount Pan de Azucar (Sugarloaf Mountain), is home to three barangays: Macatunao, Talotu-an, and Tambaliza. Its rich biodiversity and natural beauty make it an ideal candidate for eco-tourism.

To further this vision, Provincial Administrator Raul Banias convened a coordination meeting with the Provincial Tourism Office and local barangay officials. The goal of the meeting was to assess the island’s tourism potential, evaluate its existing infrastructure, and pinpoint opportunities for sustainable development.

“First, we need to inventory our tourism assets and facilities and determine the needs of the island to make it an eco-tourism area,” Banias stressed.

As part of the initiative, the provincial government plans to organize a broader stakeholders’ meeting to align various development proposals with the needs and aspirations of Pan de Azucar’s residents. This inclusive approach aims to maximize the economic and social benefits of tourism while ensuring that the island’s ecological integrity is maintained.

In 2024, residents near Pan de Azucar raised concerns about proposed quarry and mining activities on the island, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the environment and public health. They expressed strong opposition, particularly due to concerns over arsenic contamination in the local groundwater, underscoring the island’s vital ecological role.

The move to develop Pan de Azucar into an eco-tourism hub is in line with Governor Defensor’s Executive Order No. 168, which established the “Turista sa Barangay” program. This initiative promotes rural tourism by developing villages as attractive destinations for visitors and creating spaces that cater to tourists while ensuring environmental sustainability. As part of this effort, the provincial government is also focusing on reforestation and social forestry projects to preserve and enhance green spaces across the region./PN

              <text>ILOILO AIRPORT MAINTAINS PROTOCOLS: No ‘special treatment’ for passengers from Davao following mpox detection
By Ime Sornito -Wednesday, April 23, 2025
QUIÑON
QUIÑON

ILOILO City – Despite the recent detection of two monkeypox (mpox) cases in Davao City, including one fatality, the Iloilo Provincial Health Office (IPHO) assured the public that no additional measures or special treatment would be imposed on passengers arriving from Davao through the Iloilo Airport.

Dr. Maria Socorro Colmenares-Quiñon, head of the IPHO, emphasized that the protocols at the Iloilo Airport remain consistent for all passengers, regardless of their origin, to avoid any form of discrimination.

ComScore Observer
She clarified that the province is not singling out individuals traveling from Davao, as direct flights between Iloilo and Davao City regularly take place.

“There is no need for special treatment for passengers from Davao. Health personnel in Davao, including those from the airline, are already conducting surveillance before departure. Our goal is not to create unnecessary fear or discrimination, as long as there is no prolonged skin-to-skin contact or intimate exposure with an infected individual,” Dr. Quiñon stated.

The Department of Health (DOH) confirmed that the two Davao City patients, both admitted to a hospital isolation facility, were diagnosed with mpox Clade II. One of the patients, who passed away, reportedly succumbed to complications unrelated to the virus.

The DOH has assured that all passengers from Davao, like all international and domestic arrivals, undergo thorough health screenings under the supervision of the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).

Should any passenger exhibit symptoms of mpox, health personnel are prepared to transport them to the Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC) in Mandurriao for proper management, including specimen collection for confirmatory testing at the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) in Metro Manila.

“We have long-standing surveillance protocols in place. Our teams at the airport are well-versed in how to manage mpox concerns, and no new advisories have been issued because we are already prepared,” Dr. Quiñon said, stressing that ongoing disease surveillance continues at all major entry points, including airports like Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Metro Manila.

Symptoms of mpox include skin rashes, mucosal lesions, fever, muscle aches, and swollen lymph nodes. The virus is primarily spread through close physical contact, including skin-to-skin contact, as well as contaminated objects and animal bites.

Dr. Quiñon assured that, as of now, Iloilo has not recorded any positive cases of mpox. Five specimens have been sent to RITM for testing since last year, all of which returned negative results. The province’s surveillance system remains functional, she noted, and proper hygiene practices such as frequent handwashing and wearing face masks in crowded places continue to be vital in preventing the spread of mpox and other respiratory illnesses.

“We must stay vigilant and continue following health protocols to prevent the transmission of mpox and other diseases,” Dr. Quiñon added./PN

ILOILO City – The Iloilo City Government has institutionalized its feeding program for public daycare learners across the city.

This, following the passage of Food for Early Education Development (FEED) Ordinance, authored by Councilor Frances Grace Parcon, during the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) regular session on April 16.

ComScore Observer
“One of the main reasons for pushing this ordinance is to ensure the program is funded every year and no longer reliant on supplemental budgets,” she said.

According to Parcon, the FEED program, which is mainly established to address undernutrition among children, will initially have a budget of P22 million sourced from the Special Education Fund (SEF).

Mayor Jerry P. Treñas thanked the Iloilo City Council led by Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon for passing the ordinance.

“This marks a significant milestone in our ongoing fight against malnutrition among pre-school children. Next month, we will proudly inaugurate the Iloilo City Uswag Nutrition Center, a vital addition to our efforts in ensuring that every child will receive the nutrition they need to thrive. Ini tanan nga mga inisyatibo naton magapasiguro nga ang tagsa ka kabataan makabaton sang nutrisyon nga ila kinahanglan kag ang tagsa ka Ilonggo makabaton sang oportunidad nga makaangkon sang mas maayo nga panglawason kag mas malipayon nga pagpangabuhi,” said Treñas.

For school year 2024-2025, there will be 10,099 daycare learners aged two to five years old enrolled in the Child Development Center (CDC) under the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Program of the city who will benefit from the feeding program.Through the ordinance, a 10-month feeding program for children will be completed as a complementary initiative to the programs of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Parcon also stated that the meals to be served will follow the menu cycle of the supplementary feeding program of the DSWD and will be prepared by the parents.

The ordinance highlights the role of the City Agriculturist’s Office (CAO) alongside the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) in including fresh milk and fresh milk-based food products in fortified meals and cycle menus as mandated by law, helping local farmers and producers.

With the assistance of the CAO, establishment of vegetable gardens at schools, barangays and backyards are also encouraged

The City Health Office (CHO), on its part, will provide micronutrient supplements, enforce iodized salt use per the ASIN Law, and conduct health exams like deworming and vaccination.

The CHO will monitor, assess, and ensure compliance with program standards on food safety, quality, and participation.

The new measure further provides that the city government, through the CHO, shall also maintain water and sanitation facilities, promote hygiene, and ensure safe food preparation for fortified meals.

Moreover, a public health, nutrition, and values transformation campaign will complement the program to encourage an integrated approach to health and nutrition education.

Participation of all city barangays through the implementation of a Barangay Nutrition Program, the organization and strengthening of Barangay Nutrition Committees and Barangay Nutrition Action Plan (BNAP), as well as of the private sector as partners are highly encouraged.

WINNING THE WAR VS MALNUTRITION

For the last four years, the malnutrition rate among pre-school children aged zero to 59 months old in Iloilo City has steadily declined, based on the results of the yearly conduct of Operation Timbang Plus (OPT).

Data from the CHO-Nutrition Program showed a continuous downward trend in the prevalence of stunting, wasting, and overweight/obesity among the said age group from 2021 to 2024.

From three percent in 2021, stunting or low height continuously dropped to 2.8 percent in 2022; 2.6 percent in 2023, to two percent this year.

Wasting or low weight for age also declined from 1.3 percent in 2021; one percent in 2022; 0.9 percent in 2023; and 0.6 percent in 2024.

Likewise, the city recorded a decreasing rate of overweight or obesity, from 2.9 percent in 2021; 2.3 percent in 2022; 1.8 percent in 2023; and 1.4 percent in 2024.

According to CHO Nutritionist-Dietitian II Chlaerisse Montealto-Nieves, for the 2024 OPT conducted from January to March, they were able to cover 80 percent or 36,084 of the targeted 45,081 population of preschoolers.

Specifically, results showed that 92.8 percent of the age group are normal in terms of their nutritional status while 533 are underweight, 227 are wasted, 717 are stunted and 504 are overweight or obese.

For Nieves, this translates to the fact that the nutritional status of preschoolers in the city is continuously improving. Based on the OTP, only one-eighth of the total preschool children weighed were malnourished.

Nieves attributed this to the strengthened and relentless advocacy program and services of the city on nutrition.

“Since we started the implementation of our nutrition program, our campaign and advocacy on nutrition have not stopped,” Nieves added.

She cited, among others, their continuous services especially in giving out micronutrient supplementation and vitamins and promoting and advocating breastfeeding as one of the important sources of nutrients for children.

She also acknowledged the strong support extended by Mayor Treñas to CHO and its nutrition program.

In fact, Nieves noted an increased budget for the city’s nutrition program.

Another landmark project they look forward to is the soon-to-be operational Uswag Nutrition Center, in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology and Bombo Radyo Foundation Inc., wherein one of its components includes the establishment of a food production facility for complementary foods. The facility is set to be inaugurated early next month.

“We will make our own nutri-buns especially for at-risk pregnant women and rice-mongo blends for the kids,” Nieves noted.

The facility will also provide outpatient therapeutic care for malnourished kids in the city to improve their nutritional status, as well as a venue for trainings and seminars for barangay nutrition scholars, among others./PN
